The Brooklyn Junior Autistic Golfers Academy began on Flatbush Avenue, where a 20x30 tent awning welcomed parents and students into a supportive environment. We have since expanded, gaining access to recreational facilities across the five boroughs, Long Island, and Nassau County.
Our focus has always been on individual student's needs. Karen, for example, thrived with a structured routine outlined on a whiteboard, despite occasional emotional outbursts, Barry's fascination with butterflies, Arthur's comfort with baked goods on a bench before beginning his activity, Sebastian's self-repetitive movements, and Matthew's exceptional computer skills despite being nonverbal, all highlighted the unique strengths of each child. After a decade of dedication, our work was featured in the documentary "Voices From the Outside," showcasing significant progress of students who participated in BJAGA recreational activites, as shared by parents and caregivers.
My passion for young people, coupled with a deep commitment to teaching and providing personalized recreational golf instruction and activities, drives our mission to provide a safe, loving, and supportive setting for growth. We actively welcome family involvement, recognizing their crucial role in understanding each child's social cues. We foster a vibrant community that celebrates these remarkable young individuals, demonstrating the profound impact of support and understanding.
